Our first night in Bangkok

After a full day of travel, we finally arrived in Bangkok to start off our 9 day Thailand adventure. The first stop was the mobile kiosk to get a local sim card. We needed to be connected! It was about 700 baht for 3GBs and 110 minutes of local talk time. Nice!

See all the monks?  Fun fact: Women are not allowed to touch a monk.

We were then swooped up by our lovely hotel driver. He picked us up in a fancy Mercedes! It was supposed to be 1600 baht but Ryan managed to work out the transportation for free. Perhaps it was because he claimed he was "Dr. Field"?;)We were really impressed with our hotel, the Lebua. We were on the 57th floor and had an incredible veiw of the city. Fun fact, the Hangover 2 was filmed at our hotel! First stop for us was the bar, which turned out to be quite the Bangkok hotspot. Located on the 64th floor of the hotel, it's an open air bar with 360 degree views of the city.

Our friends Sophie and Vikor finally made it in and we immediately struck out into the night. We found a little hole in the wall restaurant, Suda, that Sophie's dad recommended. It was a great first stop. Real Thai food and large Singhas all around!

We then checked out some of the busier nightlife scenes. One of which was a bustling street with tons of carts that served as street bars. We bought a few beers, took a seat on the side of the road and watched the Bangkok nightlife all around us.

We ended the night with a Tuk Tuk ride home. For those of you who aren't aware, tuk tuks are common forms of transpo in Bangkok. They are basically open air motorized carts and boy do they go FAST!
