This past Easter weekend, we went to the Hunter Valley with our friends Esther and Mckay for three days. We spent the first day touring about 6 wineries. All of the wines were fantastic, but I did find myself longing for a big, bold, spicy, Californian Zin...shhhhh don't tell the Aussies!
The big varietal in the Hunter is the Semillon, which is a white wine much like Sauv Blanc. The ones that we tried were a lot more on the acidic side. The great thing about Hunter is that most places don't charge for tastings and they let you taste whatever you want. So, good or bad wine, at least you have an awesome time!
We stayed at a lovely little place called Pepper's Guest House and ate TONS of good food. It was overall a very gluttonous weekend!
Brokenwood: This was one of the last wineries we visited, notice Mr. Field's feet;)
Audrey Wilkenson: We loved this place, they had a great affordable Cabernet. Mckay and Esther got caught "snogging" at the bar which had the whole winery cracking up!

I think this was Pepper Tree. It was a great winery and kicked off our tour. We bought a merlot which was spicy and had a little herbaceous finish. Yum!

One pic that I don't have is from our dinner at Margan's which we thought was the best meal of the weekend. It was $55 for three choices or $75 for four. We didn't leave overly stuffed, but just right.
Last stop on Sunday - Tempus Two. They have a cheese shop and gelato. Ryan and Esther were happy campers!
